Kathleen Lowney passed away on January 8, 2024, after a short illness at the age of 65. Lowney obtained her PhD in religion and society from Drew University in 1986 and taught at Valdosta State University (VSU) since 1987. During her time at VSU, she wrote four books and 41 journal and book chapter articles. She also served as the editor of the American Sociological Association journal Teaching Sociology, 2010 to 2014, and was the driving force behind instituting a Teaching and Learning Center at VSU to assist faculty to improve their teaching. She will be sorely missed.
