Meeting Theme
ASA President Shelley J. Correll has identified “Disrupting the Status Quo: Putting Sociologists to Work for a More Equitable Society” as the theme of the 2026 Annual Meeting. In her theme statement, Dr. Correll writes, “to have the greatest impact, we need a sociology that is focused on solutions, prioritizes externally engaged research, and is unapologetic in its ambition to create a more equitable world.” To learn more about the theme and some of the questions programming will address under this exciting umbrella, see the full theme statement.
Program Committee
The 2026 Program Committee is developing an inspiring program of invited sessions designed to appeal to sociologists in various careers and at various career stages, and to broaden participation by sociologists from across the United States and around the world.

Land Acknowledgement
Before we can talk about sociology, power, inequality, we must acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional and unceded territory of the Lenape (pronounced len-ah-pey, meaning Original People). The American Sociological Association (ASA) acknowledges that academic institutions, indeed the nation-state itself, was founded upon and continues to enact exclusions and erasures of Indigenous Peoples. This acknowledgement demonstrates a commitment to beginning the process of working to dismantle ongoing legacies of settler colonialism, and to recognize the hundreds of Indigenous Nations who continue to resist, live, and uphold their sacred relations across their lands. We also pay our respect to Indigenous elders past, present, and future and to those who have stewarded this land throughout the generations.
