To assist you in planning for an Annual Meeting, the timeline below outlines key milestones over the 18-month planning cycle.
January (year prior to the Annual Meeting)
- Theme statement for Annual Meeting posted.
February (year prior to the Annual Meeting)
- Call posted for invited session proposals: thematic sessions, special sessions, spotlight sessions, and book forums.
March (year prior to the Annual Meeting)
- Online portal opens for invited session proposals.
April (year prior to the Annual Meeting)
- Online portal closes for invited session proposals.
October (year prior to the Annual Meeting)
- Call posted for papers/extended abstracts, courses, preconferences, Teaching and Learning Symposium, Sociology in Practice Settings Symposium, and workshop proposals.
November (year prior to the Annual Meeting)
- Online portal opens for papers/extended abstracts, courses, preconferences, Teaching and Learning Symposium, Sociology in Practice Settings Symposium, and workshop proposals.
- Online portal opens for volunteers.
- Annual Meeting invited sessions posted.
January (year of the Annual Meeting)
- Registration opens.
February (year of the Annual Meeting)
- Online portal closes for papers/extended abstracts, courses, preconferences, Teaching and Learning Symposium, Sociology in Practice Settings Symposium, and workshop proposals.
- Online portal closes for volunteers.
- Hotel block reservations open.
March (year of the Annual Meeting)
- Session organizers evaluate submissions and proposals.
April (year of the Annual Meeting)
- All sessions finalized.
- Decision notifications for submissions and proposals sent to submitters; all participants required to register.
- Portal opens for Annual Meeting Travel Fund and Student Forum Travel Awards applications.
May (year of the Annual Meeting)
- Online program available.
- Preconferences, courses, and tours posted.
June (year of the Annual Meeting)
- Annual Meeting PDF program posted.
July (year of the Annual Meeting)
- Important deadlines: early bird registration, complimentary registration, accessibility requests, remote presentation requests, child care registration, and registration refunds.
- Submitters that submitted an accepted extended are abstract required to provide a completed paper one month prior to the start of the Annual Meeting.
August (year of the Annual Meeting)
- Annual Meeting
- Plenaries, Presidential Address and Awards Presentation live streamed.
