As part of our Annual Meeting programming, we are excited to offer three unique tour options in New York. These tours provide a great opportunity to explore the city while connecting with fellow attendees. Please note that tour spots are limited and may sell out quickly.

To the right of your Upcoming Event Registration, click on the pencil icon. Click on “View/Update Registration.” Add the tour under the Available Functions header.

Village Pride Tour

Step directly into the LGBTQ+ history of Greenwich Village on our Village Pride Tour. Explore the iconic streets where revolutions ignited, protests sparked change, and history was made. This engaging journey brings to life the stories of LGBTQ+ trailblazers and the lasting legacy they’ve built for future generations. From moments of courageous resistance to the milestones of political and social progress, you’ll uncover the movements that have shaped the LGBTQ+ community across the world. Highlights include the legendary Stonewall Inn, the Gay Liberation Monument, the NYC AIDS Memorial, the LGBT Community Center, and more.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the tour’s start and end locations. The tour is fully accessible.

African Burial Ground National Monument: Guided Education Tour

The African Burial Ground, the oldest and largest known excavated burial ground in North America for both freed and enslaved Africans, is widely acknowledged as one of America’s most significant archeological finds of the 20th century. Learn about this once forgotten piece of New York history and how the rediscovery of the burial ground united a community committed to honoring, preserving, and teaching this important history to generations that follow.
The Guided Education Tour is roughly 60 minutes in total and includes a showing of the park film, “Our Time at Last,” which is approximately 20 minutes long. During the program, the ranger will present on the history of slavery during the Dutch and British periods and the history of the African Burial Ground and its rediscovery in 1991.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the tour’s start and end locations. Please be advised that the tour meets at a federal office building and visitors will be subject to an airport-style security screening. The tour is fully accessible.
Tour of Manhattan’s Chinatown
Monday, August 10 | Time 2:00-4:00 p.m.

This tour explores the evolution of Chinatown from a bachelor society to an iconic NYC tourist destination and a center of immigrant-owned small businesses and innovation. The tour includes several landmark buildings and well-known streets, and focuses on new players in Chinatown such as Chinatown buses, employment agencies, and NGOs/immigrant organizations. The walking tour and mode of transport are accessible.
