Selecting a Meeting Site
Meeting sites are usually selected five to seven years in advance. Proposals are solicited, reviewed, and then presented to the ASA Council. Council considers a wide variety of factors, including the following and many others.- Attractiveness of city and facility packages, especially room rates
- Air access/service and local transportation services
- Geographical rotation. Cities that have been visited previously are not automatically excluded from future searches.
- Sites where attendees are afforded legal protection from discrimination on the basis of age, gender, race, socioeconomic status and socioeconomic origins, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, health conditions, political affiliation, marital status, domestic status, parental status.
- Meeting space flow – flexibility, accessibility, and compact as possible.
