ASA Virtual Pro-Seminars
ASA offers pro-seminars every third Thursday of the month to promote professional development among students and early-career sociologist members. This monthly series during the fall and spring semesters will benefit you as you strategize for and embark on your career. Learn more.

Student Forum
All student members are also members of the Student Forum. Led by an elected Advisory Board of its members, the Student Forum organizes programming and social events at the ASA Annual Meeting and throughout the year.
The Student Forum is governed by the Student Forum Advisory Board Bylaws.
Student Forum Listserv
All student members are subscribed to the Student Forum listserv. Make sure to check listserv emails for the latest announcements, events, and resources.
Student Paper Award
Every year, the Student Forum Advisory Board selects one paper that was submitted to the Student Forum Paper Sessions for that year’s ASA Annual Meeting to receive this award. The winner receives a $100 award and also a Student Forum Travel Award of $250 to help defray travel expenses to the Annual Meeting.
Honors Program
The Honors Program provides undergraduate sociology students with a rich introduction to the professional life of the discipline. Exceptional sociology students from around the world come together for four days to experience all facets of the ASA Annual Meetings. Visit the Honors Program page to learn more.
The Student Forum Advisory Board
The Student Forum Advisory Board (SFAB) is elected by the student members of the Association. Eight of nine advisory board members are graduate students and one member is an undergraduate student. Graduate student members hold two-year terms and undergraduates serve for one year.
The call for nominations for SFAB members is now open. You may self-nominate or nominate someone else by submitting the nominee’s name, institution/affiliation, phone number, and email address to [email protected]. Please title the email, “Student Forum Nomination.” The nomination period will close end of business January 13, 2023. Elected SFAB members are required to maintain active ASA membership throughout their term as well as attending and carrying out Student Forum related duties pertaining to the Annual Meeting.

ASA Student Funding Opportunities
Student Forum Travel Award
Funds are available to defray the costs associated with attending the ASA Annual Meeting. Each award is $250, and approximately 45 awards are granted each year. For more information, click here.
Minority Fellowship Program
The Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) supports students of color in pursuit of a doctoral degree in sociology. MFP seeks to attract talented doctoral students to ensure that a diverse and highly-trained workforce is available to assume leadership roles and conduct research that is relevant to today’s society.
ASA Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants
The ASA DDRIG program supports highly talented doctoral students who are conducting cutting-edge sociological research that has the potential to both advance scientific knowledge and contribute to the public good. Doctoral students who have completed their pre-dissertation requirements and are at the point of initiating or already conducting empirical dissertation research focused on advancing knowledge in any sociological sub-field regardless of method are welcome to apply.
