Program Benefits
Webinars and Workshops
Faculty in Department Affiliates have access to exclusive webinars covering topics related to department leadership and management, curriculum development, teaching and learning in sociology. Via the Member Portal, every contact of your department (including non-ASA members) can access the archive of past webinars. They need to indicate in their account profile that they are linked to your department as a student or employee. Log in, navigate back to the ASA homepage, and hover over the Academic & Professional Resources tab. Click on Professional Development Videos and Webinars Archive and scroll down to find the exclusive catalogue of Department Affiliate webinars.
Exclusive undergraduate student workshops and webinars for Department Affiliates are held annually. Student members of department affiliates can also access recorded content exclusive to Department Affiliates. Using a primary contact account login, these recordings can also be used in class or at department events.
Chair Forums on the Fifth
Chairs in Department Affiliate departments will have the opportunity to regularly connect with other department chairs and ASA staff via live virtual gatherings on the fifth of every month, weekends and holidays excepted. These events are designed to help department chairs connect with one another to discuss issues in higher education and anticipate and effectively respond to the challenges of department leadership.

First year graduate students in Affiliate departments receive a free one-year ASA student membership. The primary contact for your department can gift student memberships to your first-year graduate students. In addition, Department Affiliates receive a 50% discount on listings in the ASA Guide to Graduate Departments.
