ASA Guide to Graduate Departments of Sociology

The 2026 edition of the ASA Guide to Graduate Departments of Sociology is now available online! This invaluable reference provides comprehensive information for academic administrators, advisers, faculty, students, and a host of others seeking information on graduate departments of sociology. Published by the ASA since 1965, it became a digital resource in 2025.

How to Access the Guide

Individual ASA members and Department Affiliate members have free access to the guide through their member portal.  Login to the member portal and click on Guide to Graduate Departments of Sociology in the left-hand menu.

Non-members can purchase access to the guide here.

Graduate Departments, List Now!

If your department offers a graduate degree and you have not yet listed in the 2026 guide, purchase your listing now and it will immediately appear in the guide.

How to Set Up Your Listing

  • Log in to the ASA member portal (your department’s primary contact logs in for your department).
  • To qualify for the member Department Affiliate 50% discount for your listing, your department must be an active Department Affiliate before purchasing a listing.
  • Click Listing for Guide to Graduate Departments of Sociology on the left menu.
  • Complete the department’s information. Required fields have a red asterisk after the field name.
  • Choose an option: SAVE INFO AND CONTINUE LATER – Your information will be saved in ASA’s database, but not visible to others; or FINALIZE INFORMATION AND PURCHASE GUIDE LISTING – Complete the payment to publish your listing, which will be visible through December 31, 2026. You must fill out all required fields before the system will allow payment.
  • Once your listing is live, you can view and edit it anytime from your dashboard by clicking Listing for Guide to Graduate Departments of Sociology.
  • You can also view your listing and those of other departments by clicking Guide to Graduate Departments of Sociology in the dashboard.

Note: Department Affiliates that list in the Guide will receive 4 complimentary passes for non-members in your department to access the Guide. To receive the complimentary Guide Access Passes, please email [email protected] with the name, position, and email address of the pass recipients.

New Login Process (If Your Department Hasn’t Logged in Since May 9, 2024)

  • Your username is now the primary email address on file for your department.
  • The first time your primary contact accesses the new ASA member portal, they should complete the steps under Department Access provided here.
