Sociology Faculty See Smaller Raises but Still Outpace Inflation in AY 2009-2010: Other Social Science Disciplines not Able to Recoup Losses

Using data from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources, this brief finds that average annual sociology faculty salaries increased in Academic year 2009‐10 from the previous year, slightly outpacing inflation. Sociology faculty salaries were lowest of the social science disciplines studied, but sociology faculty saw the second highest increases in average annual salary, compared to the previous year.
