This research brief uses data from the National Science Foundation Survey of Earned Doctorates, the ASA Graduate Department Survey, and the ASA 1998 Survey of Recent PhD Graduates in Sociology to compare the status and activities of members of racial and ethnic groups in academic sociology in terms of tenure and promotion process.
