This presentation focuses on sociologists employed outside of acdemia. Findings include: 1. sociology as a discipline might gain status (or at least more jobs) if there was more than one career model, and 2. characteristics of work outside the academy could be a model for solving real world problems in large-scale funded disciplinary teams.
