Sorokin Lecture Grants

Grant funding is available to host a winner of an ASA-wide award from the past two calendar years to deliver a lecture at a state, regional, or aligned sociological association meeting or on an academic campus.  ASA grant funds cover the travel and up to two days of hotel costs.  The host is responsible for registration, if applicable, and meal costs.  Contingent upon available funding, ASA can support up to four such lectures each calendar year.

Application Process

To apply, send a letter of inquiry with specific information about the event and the audience as well as the lecturer preferred.  Executive Directors or Presidents of associations or faculty (with their chair's support) in departments may apply.  Submit these materials and any questions to Mark Fernando, Director of Governance and Administration, at 

The deadline for applications is February 1 of the year the event will take place. Applications can be considered after the deadline pending availability of funds.
