Invited Sessions

Last Updated: November 29, 2022

The Program Committee has developed a robust set of invited sessions for the 2022 Annual Meeting that we are pleased to share with you. Invited sessions traditionally consist of Plenary Sessions, Thematic Sessions, Special Sessions, Book Forums, and Regional Spotlight Sessions.

Plenary sessions are chosen by the President to reflect upon the theme or areas of importance to the discipline.

These sessions are elevated by the President because of their importance to the discipline or currency.

Plenary sessions are chosen by the President to reflect upon the theme or areas of importance to the discipline.

Special Sessions focus on new areas of sociological work or other timely topics which may or may not relate to the theme. They generally address sociological issues, whether in research or its application, of importance to the discipline or of interest beyond.

Book Forums (formerly Book Salons and Author Meets Critics Sessions) are designed to bring authors of recent books, published in 2019-2021, deemed to be important contributions to the discipline together with panelists chosen to provide different viewpoints.

Regional Spotlight Sessions explore the sociological importance of the city and immediate area where the ASA Annual Meeting is scheduled to be held.
