Online Posting Policy

ASA journals have a “Green Open Access” policy which allows authors to archive and use their contributions as indicated below. Once you have submitted a manuscript to an ASA journal, what are your options for sharing that manuscript?

Authors may:

  1. Share the version of the contribution submitted to the journal (version 1) anywhere at any time.
  2. Once the contribution has been accepted for publication, share or post the accepted version (version 2) of the contribution on the author’s personal website, the author’s department’s website, the repository of the author’s institution, the repository of another institution, a subject repository or another database without restriction or embargo.
  3. Use the published contribution (version 3) for teaching needs or to supply on an individual basis to research colleagues, provided that such supply is not for commercial purposes.
  4. Use the published contribution (version 3) in a book soley authored or edited by author at any time after publication in the journal. This does not apply to books where authors are contributing a chapter to a book authored or edited by someone else.

Authors may not post the published contribution (version 3) on a website or in a repository without permission from ASA or the journal’s publisher.
