Haverford College. The Bi-College Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Bryn Mawr and Haverford College invites applications for a three year non-tenure track, renewable appointment at open rank to begin in the 2000-2001 academic year at Haverford College. University of Illinois-Chicago. The Jewish Studies Program is seeking to fill the position of Director. The Director will have the opportunity to build a program that is poised for substantial growth at an urban Carnegie Research I University. The position will be at the tenured Associate Professor or Professor level. The successful candidate, a scholar in an area of Jewish Studies, will have an appointment in Jewish Studies and the department of his or her discipline. The Director would be responsible for strengthening a growing Jewish Studies Program, including administering the program, and teaching courses and conducting research in his/her area in Jewish Studies. Iowa State University. The Department of Sociology seeks to hire a professor with a specialization in criminology/criminal justice. Macalester College. International and Japan Studies Professor. International Studies seeks to fill a two-year visiting faculty appointment, with the possibility of an additional two-year renewal, to teach courses specific to Japan and related themes in International Studies. Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Public Policy/Organizational Behavior. The Department of Urban Studies and Planning seeks a faculty member for a tenure-track position to conduct research and teach in the area of organizational behavior as it relates to public policy-more specifically, to bureaucracy, improving the effectiveness of public-sector (and private non-profit) organizations, the interactions between public-sector and private institutions, approaches to taking effective action in organizations, and the impact of new technologies in the public sector on governance and service delivery. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning September 1, 2000. A PhD in sociology is required by date of contractual appointment.
