University of Alabama-Birmingham. Faculty Position in International Health. The Department of Epidemiology and International Health, School of Public Health, has an opening at the senior Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. Successful candidates for this tenure-earning position will be expected to teach courses relevant to their training, advise masters and doctoral students and initiate active extramurally-funded research programs. Reproductive Health Population Studies/Demographer: The Department is seeking a reproductive health specialist with skills in demography to collaborate with faculty ongoing research projects, develop an independent research program, and to develop and present a graduate level course in demography and population issues. Primary qualifications for this position include an earned doctorate in demography or a related discipline with international research experience in one or more of the following areas: (1) demography, (2) population research/family planning, (3) development and evaluation of public health interventions targeting such issues as poverty, literacy, domestic violence, and child labor, and (4) health issues of refugees and displaced persons. Evidence of experience as a funded investigator and a publication record commensurate with the level of appointment are essential. University of Alberta. Department of Sociology. Augustana College. Anticipated Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2000. PhD and commitment to/evidence of excellent undergraduate teaching required. Bard College. Director of Multiethnic Studies Program. Pending final approval, Bard College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty position for the director of its Multiethnic Studies Program�an interdisciplinary minor concentration permitting the study of race, ethnicity, and minority group experience. Rank is open. The ideal candidate must teach core courses as well as courses in his/her own area and have the PhD in hand. This is a position within Bard�s Social Studies Division, which includes the following fields: anthropology, economics, history, philosophy, political studies, psychology, religion, sociology, and theology. Barnard College, Columbia University. The Department of Sociology invites applications for two visiting open-rank positions, one for two years, the other for one year, to begin July, 2000. For one position, we are especially interested in the areas of law, medicine, media organizations, and media and politics; for the other, areas include immigration, gender, class and race, and poverty and social policy. Boston College. The Center for Religion and American Public Life seeks an assistant director. The person to be hired should have a doctorate in one of the social sciences and have strong intellectual interests in religion and American politics and society. The job will involve organizing conferences and seminars, writing grant proposals, and becoming actively involved in the life of the Center. Some teaching in the appropriate social science department at Boston College will also be expected. The position is for three years with the possibility of renewal for another three years.
