  • University of Alabama-Birmingham. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sociology beginning August 1, 1999. A PhD is required at the time of the appointment. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in medical sociology or related fields. Experience in teaching is required. Responsibilities include teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses. In addition, the candidate is expected to have an active program of research (grant activity, publications, etc.). Salary and benefits are competitive. The University of Alabama-Birmingham is a Carnegie I urban research university with a top-25 ranked medical school.   • Augsburg College, Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor beginning Fall 1999. This position involves teaching in the areas of sociology of the family (cross-cultural) and statistics and methods across both our day and weekend class schedules.   • Barnard College, Columbia University. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position, to begin January 1999 through June 2000.   • Brandeis University. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor with a two year initial appointment (and possibility of multi-year renewal) beginning September 1999. Candidates’ research and teaching interests must include sociology of aging. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship focused on the Sociology of the Chicano/Mexicano/Latino experience. We especially encourage applications from candidates who have conducted research in one or more of the following areas in relation to the Chicano/Mexicano/Latino experience: race-relations in the American Southwest, ethnic inequality, border studies, immigration, urban politics, or the sociology of diversity (i.e., dimensions of its economic, educational, or sociopolitical effects).   • University of Central Florida. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Sociology beginning August 1999.   • Colgate University. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Sociology at the level of Assistant Professor. The beginning date for this position is August 1999.
