  1. 2020 Invited Sessions

    The Program Committee selects a slate of invited sessions to be offered at the annual meeting each year.

    Plenary Sessions are meeting-wide sessions. No other programming is scheduled opposite plenary sessions.

    Thematic Sessions provide the opportunity to expand the meeting theme. 

    Special Sessions are usually on topics that are of special interest or importance to the field but not necessarily related to the meeting theme. 

  2. Volunteer

    The 2021 Program Committee is seeking volunteers to organize sessions for the open submission regular paper topics. The deadline to volunteer is April 22, 2020. Volunteering does not guarantee an invitation to organize. Anyone volunteering to organize an open submission regular session must abide by the guidelines governing such work and meet the eligibility requirements.

    Call for Submissions: Courses 

    Submissions will open November 1, 2019. The submission deadline is Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern). 

    ASA invites members to propose a course for the 2020 Annual Meeting in San Francisco. Courses will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020, the day before the first full day of sessions at the Annual Meeting.

  7. 2020 Theme and Program Committee

    Each year, ASA’s president chooses a theme on which to focus some of the programming for the ASA Annual Meeting—a tradition that ensures our meetings reflect the rich diversity of perspectives and subject matter in our discipline.  2020 ASA President Christine Williams chose the theme “Power, Inequality, and Resistance at Work.” Her conception of the theme is below.

    If you booked a hotel room at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square or the Parc 55, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. Please allow up to 30 days for a deposit refund to appear on a credit card. ASA cannot cancel hotel reservations on your behalf and will not be responsible for any room cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 72 hours of arrival will forfeit one night's room and tax.
