New Issue of Journal of World-Systems Research

Last Updated: October 6, 2022

The Journal of World-Systems Research has released its Summer/Fall 2018 issue, including a special symposium on “Populisms in the World-System.”

Today’s headlines reveal deepening polarization pitting exclusionary and nationalist ideologies against demands for greater economic inclusion and equity. JWSR’s Symposium on Populisms in the World-System offers insightful analyses of the polarized politics of our current moment and provides ideas for how those seeking a more equitable and just world might respond. In addition, our Review Symposium on Counter-Hegemony in the Current Conjuncture examines a selection of a growing set of works on possible alternatives to globalized capitalism and the movements organizing to advance these alternatives.

In addition to these special features, our regular articles will help readers see how world-systems analysis can help illuminate contemporary nuclear security debates and inform our analysis of both contemporary and historical social movements. Our section on world-historical information offers strategies for teaching with historical GIS datasets and a review of Data Planet.
