ASA is partnering with the March for Science happening on April 22, 2017, in Washington DC and more than 500 locations around the world.
Mission: The March for Science is a public celebration of science and a reminder of the important role evidence plays in informing public policy. We believe the use of evidence-based research into policy debates is not a partisan concept but rather essential to understanding the world and making the best decisions as a nation.
Let’s show our strength as a scientific discipline.
DC Timeline: We will be hosting breakfast for members the morning of the march between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. in the ASA office. If you are in DC or coming to DC and want to join us, please sign up here. A timeline for events in Washington is below.
- 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.: Breakfast at the ASA office (signup form)
- 9 a.m.: Teach-ins on the Mall
- 10 a.m.: Speakers and rally
- 2 p.m.: March along parade route

Catalyzing Advocacy for Science & Engineering Workshop: AAAS is hosting the Catalyzing Advocacy for Science & Engineering Workshop on Friday, April 21 at 9 a.m. The workshop is for individuals interested in learning about the role of science in policymaking. Workshop participants will discuss the structure and organization of Congress, the U.S. federal budget and appropriations process, and tools for effective science communication and civic engagement that they can carry throughout their careers.
