Calls for Papers: Publications

Valuation Studies is seeking submissions for an upcoming special issue on “Valuing Energy: Unpacking Value in Energy Resources, Technologies, and Processes.” It invites papers that problematize, analyze, and examine the valuation of energy and energy things in society and that explore empirically the valuation of energy or propose new approaches to valuation studies of energy. Submit extended abstract (about 1,000 words) by March 31, 2024. For more information, including a list of possible themes, visit the website. 

Social Science History will publish its 50th anniversary issue in fall 2026. What is the relationship between the past and the present? What is the nature of how change occurs or does not occur over time? This anniversary issue explores multiple possibilities of the theme of “Past and Present.” Papers should address this theme in some way, either theoretically, empirically, substantively or in some combination. The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences invites contributions for an upcoming issue on the theme “Climate Hazards and Their Social, Political, and Economic Consequences.” Editors seek original research pertaining to the social, political, and economic effects of climate-related hazards in the United States, inequalities exacerbated or created by hazards, and how federal, state, local and/or private mitigation, recovery, and resilience policies affect inequalities. BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies is seeking submissions for its collection on animal-assisted interventions for mental health. First documented around 12,000 years ago, the therapeutic benefits of human-animal bond have remained a subject of notable research, support, and implementation. The journal has launched this collection in support of disseminating evidence-based research on this emerging and important topic. It is particularly interested in research looking at the effects of animal-assisted interventions for anxiety and PTSD. The submission deadline is April 11, 2024. Politics and Animals is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that explores the human-animal relationship from the vantage point of political science and political theory. It hosts international, multidisciplinary research and debate—conceptual and empirical—on the consequences and possibilities that human-animal relations have for politics and vice versa. Articles accepted for publication are added continuously to the current issue until that issue closes, ensuring the fastest possible turnaround times for authors.
