Social Science History will publish its 50th anniversary issue in fall 2026. What is the relationship between the past and the present? What is the nature of how change occurs or does not occur over time? This anniversary issue explores multiple possibilities of the theme of “Past and Present.” Papers should address this theme in some way, either theoretically, empirically, substantively or in some combination. First documented around 12,000 years ago, the therapeutic benefits of human-animal bond have remained a subject of notable research, support, and implementation.
