Sociology of Body and Embodiment Award Nomination Calls

Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Graduate Student Paper Award

We invite submissions for the Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Graduate Student Paper Award. The 2020 award recognizes the best paper (published or unpublished) by one or more graduate students. All authors must have been enrolled as graduate students at the time the paper was written. If published, the paper must have been published since January 1, 2019. Self-nominations are welcome. To be considered for this award, all nominees must be current dues-paying members of the section on the Body and Embodiment (which requires ASA membership). To nominate an article for this award, please send an email to all award committee members with the following two PDF attachments: 1) a letter explaining how the paper makes a significant contribution to the sociology of body and embodiment, and 2) a copy of the paper. All materials must be received by March 1, 2020.

Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Best Publication Award

We invite submissions for the Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Best Publication Award. The 2020 award will recognize the best book published between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2019. Self-nominations are welcome as are co-authored works. To be considered for this award, all nominees must be current dues-paying members of the section on the Body and Embodiment (which requires ASA membership). To nominate a book for this award, 1) E-mail a letter to all award committee members explaining how the book makes a significant contribution to the sociology of body and embodiment, and 2) send, or request that the publisher send, a copy of the book to each award committee member. All materials must be received by March 1, 2020.
