ASA Symposium Materials from the 2013 NCSS Annual Conference in Saint Louis are Now Available!

The ASA High School Sociology Planning Program team is pleased to make available the materials (in PowerPoint or PDF format) from the four ASA Symposium sessions at the 2013 National Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference in Saint Louis! The sessions drew more than 70 people in total and were held over an entire day in the same room. The materials are found under separate links for each session on the next page. The C3 Framework Has Been Released by NCSS!

To all High School Teachers of Sociology--BIG NEWS! The National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) has recently released the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards. ASA is proud to have been a part of this process, and the Sociology Companion Document for the C3 Framework can be found in Appendix C beginning on page 72. High School Teachers Can Join ASA!

High school teachers can join the ASA at a special discounted rate of $65 for a full year.  As ASA members, high school teachers receive all of the regular benefits of ASA membership, plus they automatically receive a personal subscription to Contexts magazine and a free subscription to TRAILS, the Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology.

Introduction to Sociology Curriculum Guidelines

The purpose of Introsocsite is to freely share the curriculum designed by the 2001 ASA Task Force on High School Sociology for a college-level high school sociology course, as well as general resources to assist in the teaching and learning of Intro to Sociology.
