Selecting a Consultant:

On this page you will find a full list of consultants for the Department Resources Group (DRG).  DRG consultants have many different institutional affiliations and substantive interests but all share a common concern for the advancement of the discipline, as well as the enhancement of departmental programs and curriculum. Regular training keeps consultants current on issues in higher education, literature on teaching sociology and best practices in organizational consulting. DRG Consultants work with both undergraduate and graduate programs, stand-alone sociology departments, interdisciplinary departments and joint programs.

Current DRG consultants are listed in the table below, along with each consultant's institutional affiliation, program type, CV, and statement of consulting approach.  Their availability is also listed.  To contact a DRG consultant, click on the "email" corresponding to their name.

Key for consultant availability

* While you can contact a consultant at anytime to discuss details even schedule a site visit, dates for actual site visits will have to be discussed with the consultant. The column "Consultant availability" lists what each consultants availability is for site visits. The chart below explains the listings you will see in the "Consultant availability" column.

If consultant availability is listed as:
Available Consultants schedule is fleixible for scheduling site visits
3-6 months advanced notice required Consultant may need to schedule the site visit 3-6 months after initial contact
6-12 months advanced notice required Consultant may need to schedule the site visit 6-12 months after initial contact
After ( a certain date) This consultant can only perform onsite visits after this date

Fees and Expenses

When DRG consultants make site visits their travel expenses are covered by the college or university they visit and they also receive an honorarium to compensate for pre-visit preparation, the time involved with their travel and the actual site visit, as well as time spent writing the final report (if required). Thus,a program review might require 2.5 to 3.5 days of a consultant's time, including a half day of preparation and document review, at least one full day for the site visit, and at least one day for report development. As a guideline, we suggest an honorarium of at least $500 per day, depending on the details of the report that is needed and the typical amount paid to external reviewers and other consultants on campus.
