Graduate Student Resources

Student Forum
The American Sociological Association's Student Forum provides resources for graduate and undergraduate sociology students, helps develop networks among student members, and facilitates student participation in the ASA by encouraging professional development and service. Individuals who join the American Sociological Association as student members automatically become members of the Student Forum, receive all mailings and electronic communications, and have access to Student Forum programming. There are no additional fees associated with membership in the Student Forum.

Student Membership
The identity shift from student to sociologist is an integral part of students' professional development. To assist in this process, the ASA collaborates with departments to help students join ASA for the first time. Full-time students are encouraged to become members of ASA.

Research on the Discipline
The ASA Department of Research on the Discipline and Profession conducts many projects throughout the year focusing on the trends in the sociology discipline. Many of the studies include tracking faculty salaries in sociology and other social sciences, exploring the post-graduation paths of graduates of sociology programs.
