Join The Section on Teaching & Learning
The purpose of the Section on Teaching and Learning in Sociology is to provide a professional organization for improving the teaching of sociology from the high school to the graduate level. It encourages and facilitates innovative and effective pedagogy and research. This Section addresses the common and unique needs of faculty in high school, and in two-year and four-year colleges and universities, as well as the needs of graduate departments of sociology. It also supports the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Only current members of the ASA may join the Section. You can join the ASA here. In the process of completing your membership application, you will be asked which Sections you would like to join. As a member of the Section on Teaching and Learning, you will receive the Section newsletter, Teaching/Learning Matters, three times a year. It includes Section business, teaching strategies, and news regarding teaching and learning in sociology. You will also have the chance to meet and network with others like you who care about teaching and learning.
The Section on Teaching and Learning's sessions at the ASA annual meeting are an important way of promoting teaching and learning as valued and legitimate activities of our discipline! If you have intended to join, but just haven't gotten around to it, please do so as soon as possible.
If you have any questions about joining the Section, please e-mail the Section Chair.
