Characteristics of Sociology Departments

Tables and charts on R&D funds awarded to sociology programs and characteristics of sociology departments are presented below. Data on sociology programs is from ASA’s department survey of about 1,100 sociology programs. Results for the Academic Year 2001/2002 are also available in print.

R&D expenditure data is based on the National Science Foundation’s Survey of R&D Expenditures at Universities and Colleges available since fiscal year 1974, derived from National Science Foundation’s Caspar data table tool.
