American Sociological Association: ASA Membership by Type and Race/Ethnicity
This table shows the racial and ethnic composition of regular and student ASA members in 2001 and 2010. At the beginning of the decade, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders represented the second largest share of membership. Membership increased among all minority groups and by 2010, African Americans represented the second largest percentage of ASA membership. The percentage of members not reporting racial or ethnic information also increased.
