2013-2014 Department Affiliates: Comparing Cost to Value for Your Department

The value of joining  the Department Affiliates Program will vary depending on the number of faculty in a department, how many faculty members subscribe to TRAILS, how many take advantage of the opportunity to register for webinars in the ASA Professional Affairs Webinar Series, whether the Chair will attend the ASA Department Chairs Conference at the Annual Meeting, etc.  The two scenarios below are designed to help undergraduate and graduate departments consider the cost to value of joining the Department Affiliates Program for their department.

The Sociology Department at Smalltown College has 4 full-time faculty who have 4-4 teaching loads.  They are planning to conduct a faculty search during the coming year.  The Department Chair is planning to attend the Chairs Conference at the next Annual Meeting.
