ASA Database Upgrade Announcement

The ASA is launching a new online database in mid-May. Online access to the member portal, meeting registration, the ASA online bookstore, the TRAILS online database of teaching resources, and the ASA Job Bank will be unavailable from May 6 until approximately May 15, when the transition is complete. At that time, all members will be sent a link to create a personalized user name and password to connect to their member record in the new online database.

During this service interruption, please note:

ASA Website: The ASA website and all non-database content on it will continue to be available during the database transition.

Bookstore: The online bookstore will be unavailable during the database transition. A list of materials usually available in the online bookstore is available here   However, customer service representatives will be available to process any urgent order by phone.

Forums: The discussion forum at members.asanet.org/forums will be discontinued as of May 15. A new discussion forum may be launched in the future through the new online member database.

Job Bank: All active jobs in the ASA Job Bank as of May 6 are available for access and download here.  However, no new positions can be posted from May 6 until the database transition has been completed. Learn more...

Meeting Registration: Meeting Registration: Online meeting registration is not available during the database transition. Please note that the deadline for program participant preregistration is being extended to May 30. Any non-registered participants who cannot wait to pay the registration fee until the new online database re-opens may complete this interactive preregistration form and return it with payment to ASA by e-mail, postal mail, or fax.

Member Renewal/Application: The online renewal and application system will be unavailable during the database transition. Prior-year members who need to complete their renewal during this period may call (202) 383-9005 x389; one of our membership representatives will process the renewal by telephone. New members can complete this interactive application and return it to ASA by e-mail, mail, or fax.

Online Journal Access: During the database transition, ASA members will not be able to log in to the member portal for online access to ASA journals. Our journal publishing partners (SAGE Publications and Wiley) have generously agreed to open online access through their websites to ASA journals from May 6-May 15.

Research: All content on the ASA Research Department webpages will be accessible during the transition to the new online database on May 6-15. This includes access to Research briefs and articles, data on trends in sociology, job market findings, project funding, survey templates, links to other datasets, and information on current projects.

TRAILS: During the database transition, it will not be possible to log into the Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology (TRAILS) for resource viewing, downloads, or submissions.

We appreciate your patience during this transition and apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.
