ASA will make arrangements for sign-language interpreters, sighted guides, and other communication avenues for meeting registrants. Please use the "Accessibility Services" portion of the registration form to identify the service that you need. Meeting Services staff will contact you to discuss needs and possible arrangements.

Plenary Sessions

All plenary sessions will be simultaneously webcast with open captions.  Anyone in the plenary hall – or anywhere else in the world -- will be able to access the webcast and captions from their computer, smart phone, or tablet.  This will make the Plenary Sessions accessible for audience members who identify as having a hearing impairment, but it will also improve conditions for individuals who have difficulty hearing because of room acoustics, or age-related hearing loss. Look for details located in the description of the Plenary Session in order to access the captioning through your mobile device. [Visit Webcasting site here...]

In addition, anyone can submit a question during the plenary through the webcasting interface. All submitted questions will appear on a computer screen visible to the plenary presider.  This means that anyone who is not comfortable making their way to a microphone in a crowded, dark, plenary hall—whether due to a mobility, vision, hearing, or speech impairment, or because of age or temperament or location in the middle of a fully occupied row of chairs, or still some other reason not named here---will nonetheless be able to participate in the discussion portion of the plenary.

ASA will also make arrangements for sign-language interpreters, sighted guides, and other communication avenues for meeting registrants for the Plenary Sessions. Please use the "Accessibility Services" portion of the registration form to identify the service that you need. Meeting Services staff will contact you to discuss needs and possible arrangements.

Concurrent Sessions

ASA will make arrangements for sign-language interpreters, sighted guides, and other communication avenues for meeting registrants. Please use the "Accessibility Services" portion of the registration form to identify the service that you need. Meeting Services staff will contact you to discuss needs and possible arrangements.

ASA strives to make its Annual Meeting accessible to ensure full participation by persons with disabilities. Each presentation or session should be designed and conducted with the full participation of all in mind. Therefore, the ASA requests that all presenters review the guidelines for accessible presentations and take the steps necessary to make all programming accessible to their respective audiences.

Gender-Neutral Restroom Facilities

The ASA will designate gender-neutral restroom facilities at the Hilton New York Midtown and the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers.  Both properties are hosting program sessions and events.  The presence of gender-neutral facilities can eliminate problems for many people. The gender neutral restrooms may also function as a family restroom or as a restroom for disabled persons. These restroom facilities are also available for use by all persons, regardless of their gender identity. Information on the location of these facilities may be found in the final program materials.
