Annual Meeting Employment Service
Quick Links
The annual ASA Employment Service (ES) assists sociologists and prospective employers by providing convenient opportunities for interviewers and job seekers to meet in a neutral, monitored environment for initial short interviews during the Annual Meeting.
The online ES module gives registered users access to candidate resumes and job listings and supports an interactive scheduling calendar for setting up interview appointments during the Annual Meeting. The ES will be accessible through the ASA Member Portal or via the quick link on this page.
Job seekers (candidates) must preregister for the 2013 Annual Meeting and pay the candidate fee for the Employment Service.
Employers (organizations) may pay the job posting fee as part of their ES login process. After posting job listings, an employer can designate the appropriate personnel who will serve as interviewers, provided those individuals have preregistered for the Annual Meeting.
Interviewers must preregister for the 2013 Annual Meeting in order to be designated by employers for the role of interviewer.

Registered users must check in at their designated service area (Candidate Check-in or Employer Check-in), receive a briefing on using the service during the meeting, and obtain an ES service pass before proceeding to the interview area. Users should allow 30 minutes for this check-in and briefing process.
All initial interview appointments arranged through the Employment Service must take place on-site within the designated Interview Room service area in Americas Hall II at the Hilton New York Midtown. This requirement is a safeguard for both interviewers and candidates.
Interviewers and candidates are encouraged to bring their own laptops with them so that they can more easily maintain communications during the Annual Meeting. The ASA Employment Service area will feature complimentary wireless internet as well as a few computer stations for use by registered ES users. Additional computers and complimentary wireless access are available for all registered meeting attendees at "The Hub", ASA's Social Networking booth located in Americas Hall I at the Hilton New York Midtown.
Anyone wishing to use the Employment Service should preregister for the 2013 Annual Meeting as soon as possible to take full advantage of the pre-convention communication opportunities that the online service offers. Meeting preregistration closes on July 10, 2013.
