  Chair Conference

ASA's Chair Conference, held the day before the Annual Meeting, is designed for new and current departmental chairs at all types of academic institutions. This conference provides “briefings” on issues of critical importance for departmental leadership and sociology in academia. Panels, roundtables, and informal conversation facilitate sharing information and advice. Topics include trends and transitions in undergraduate and graduate education, ways to improve your department, and other issues such as budgeting, hiring, curriculum, and assessment. Attendees also meet in groups with chairs from similar institutions to discuss common issues. For more information about the Chair Conference, please contact Academic and Professional Affairs (apap@asanet.org). More information and details about registration will be forthcoming.
