This list derives from a special poster/exhibit session of the Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association held in August 2000. It provided a unique occasion to meet principle investigators, researchers, and managers of large-scale data sets that are publicly available for use. Each exhibit showcased a major data set or multiple data resources of tremendous value for secondary analyses. Representatives were available to talk about the nature of these data sets, their analytic potential, and issues relating to access and use, including the development of state-of-the-art Internet services to access data sets.
