Membership Dues
Membership dues cover the calendar year (January 1-December 31). ASA does not offer pro-rated membership fees for individuals joining after January 1.
Regular membership dues are based on income and range from $25 to $185. Full-time students may join for $19. Associate, International Associate, and Emeritus dues are $44.

Associate Member: $44
Not for individuals with full-time appointments in sociology departments. Associate members are not eligible to vote in ASA elections.
Student Member: $19
Only full-time students are eligible for this category.
Emeritus Member: $44
Must be retired from primary workplace and have at least 10 consecutive years of ASA membership for eligibility.
International Associate: $44

In addition to membership dues, all ASA members, except for Emeritus and International Associate, are required to subscribe to at least one journal.
Journal Subscription Fees
In addition to membership dues, all members, except for Emeritus and International Associates, are required to subscribe to at least one journal. Most journals are $40 for non-student members, and $25 for student members. Members who subscribe two or more journals, receive free online access for ALL journal issues. International Associate members receive online access to all journals as part of their membership contribution. Postage is included for US and Canadian subscribers. International subscribers must add $20 for postage per print journal subscription.

Regular members will spend from $64 to $216, depending on their income category, for dues and a required journal. Students will spend $43 for dues and a journal. Associate members will spend $82 for dues and a journal. Emeritus and International Associates will spend $42 for membership dues and are not required to purchase a journal.
Additional Elective Costs
Sections:
ASA members may join special interest sections. Some sections publish newsletters, maintain list-serves and sponsor program sessions during the Annual Meeting. Section dues are an additional cost to membership dues. You must be a current member to join a section.
