Peter H. Rossi served as the 71st President of the American Sociological Association. His Presidential Address, entitled "The Challenge and Opportunities of Applied Social Research," was delivered at the Association's 1980 Annual Meeting in New York,and was later published in the American Sociological Review (ASR December 1980, Vol 45 No 6, pp 889-904). The New Hampshire Gazette reported on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 that "Peter Henry Rossi, 84, the Stuart A. Rice professor emeritus of sociology at the University of Massachusetts, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 7."
