Essays from the Chronicle of Higher Education
On August 12, 2005, the Chronicle of Higher Education published a special section of The Chronicle Review that included a series of essays looking at the discipline on the occasion of the ASA centennial. In addition to an introductory essay by Craig Calhoun and Troy Duster on “Sociology’s Visions and Divisions,” seven prominent sociologists discussed what drew them into the field, what they consider its fortes and failings, and where they’d like to see it go from here.
With the permission of the Chronicle of Higher Education, the original authors, and the cover artist, we are pleased to be able to post these essays on the ASA website. While the ASA and the authors encourage their use for teaching and research purposes, any other use requires the permission of the individual author(s).
