2016 Job Bank Updates

ASA Job Bank Enhancements and Fee Changes

There are some new and exciting changes for the ASA Job Bank in 2016, providing employers and job seekers better tools for posting and searching job listings.

New Job Details

Application Deadline: Employers are asked to provide the application deadline separately from the job description. This puts important information out front for job seekers to see.

Tenure/Tenure Track Listings: Employers will be able to specify whether a position is tenured, tenure track, tenure eligible, not tenure track, or not applicable.

Employer Description: Employers will be able to enter a "mission statement" for their department or institution, providing interested candidates with a more complete profile of the institution when considering whether or not to apply.

Employer Logo: Employers can upload their company logo to their job listing.

Employer Contact Information: Employers are required to provide an email, phone number, or website where job seekers can get more information and ask questions about the advertised position.

New Tools for Job Seekers

My Favorites List: A long asked for addition to the Job Bank is the My Favorites List for job seekers. As users view listings on the Job Bank, there will be an option at the top of each listing to mark it as a favorite. From the job seeker's welcome page, users will be given a link directly to their My Favorites List. The list will provide a snapshot of each job, including the job ID, job title, company, position type, region, date available, application deadline, posting duration, and salary range.

Supporting Documents: Job candidates will be able to upload an additional two documents (e.g., writing samples, syllabi, classroom evaluations) to their Job Bank profile. These materials, along with the resume or curriculum vita, will be available for review by employers with an active listing in the Job Bank.

Fee Structure

As of March 15, 2016, Job Bank fees changed for the first time since 2009. However, the Department Affiliate (DA) discount for posting jobs in the Job Bank will increase from 10 to 20 percent, effectively eliminating the fee increase for DAs. In addition, the discount rate for government agencies posting jobs will remain the same. Only non-DA departments and other employers will see an increase in listing fees.
