East Tennessee State University :

Position Detail: The Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the College of Arts & Sciences at East Tennessee State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in sociology to begin January 9, 2015. This is a one-year position, renewable for up to three years, pending departmental needs. Substantive areas of training and research are open; the successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in research methods, statistics, and data analysis using statistical software.

Candidates with a PhD in sociology and those close to PhD completion (ABD) are encouraged to apply. Evidence of ability to teach research methods and statistics at the undergraduate level is required. Preference will be given to candidates whose interests expand the current strengths of the department.

East Tennessee State University is part of the Tennessee Board of Regents system with over 14,000 students. The department offers undergraduate majors in sociology and anthropology and an M.A. in sociology. The university has a medical school, numerous Doctoral and Masters programs, and a commitment to high-quality, externally-funded research. Tufts University:

The Tufts University undergraduate program in Community Health  (http://ase.tufts.edu/commhealth) invites applications for a full-time, non tenure-stream lecturer to join the faculty for a one-year appointment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. Must hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field. University-level teaching experience is required and experience with undergraduates is strongly preferred. S/he will have expertise in an area relevant to Community Health, with preference for one or more of the following areas: health inequities, health policy, and research methods.

Responsibilities will include teaching courses, and otherwise supporting the Community Health Program’s activities.

University of California, Riverside:

Syracuse University:

The Department of Sociology in the Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs invites applications for an Advanced Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor in the Sociology Department and faculty associate in the Syracuse University Aging Studies Institute. Candidates should have an active program of research in the sociology of aging and the life course. The exact areas of specialization are open, but preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to other strengths in the sociology department. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in sociology or a related discipline by the time of appointment and must show success in or strong promise of scholarly achievement and productivity, as well as a commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching.
