Annual Meeting Plenary President Annette Lareau and the 2014 Program Committee have been working on an exciting program that will include more than 600 individual sessions on everything from the latest and greatest books in the field, section roundtables, and countless other topics.

MEETING THEME: America is a land of inequality. Moreover, the scope of economic inequality has grown sharply in recent decades.  Since the beginning of the Great Recession in 2008, in particular, many Americans have lost ground.  Its consequences have been particularly harsh for families with children. Program Information

The submission system closed January 13. A record-breaking 4,664 submissions were received (compared to 4,424 in 2013). Authors should receive notice of the final disposition of their submission by March 14, 2014.

Mark Your Calendar

  • April 30, 2014: General Preregistration is currently available and preregistration for the Employment Service, Tours, and Pre-convention Courses will open online on April 30.
  • April 30, 2014: Program schedule announced. No scheduling information is available prior to that date.
  • May 14, 2014: All program participants (member and non-member) must preregister for the Annual Meeting in order to retain their listings in the Final Program. [Register Now]

Convention Services


Requesting Meeting Room Space: Groups wishing to meet in conjunction with the 2014 Annual Meeting may request space by sending a formal letter of request with signature (e-mail messages or files are not acceptable) to ASA Meeting Services by February 26, 2014 --if you have missed this date, contact ASA Meeting Services.
